Interventions

Interventions occur when there is a need to reduce parental conflict. Sometimes parents agree they need a neutral person to help them understand their situation and come to a resolution.

My role as a parenting expert is described in a court order, the contract and the Alberta Family Law Practice Note 7. Typically, this role works with either parents to reduce conflict, help resolve parenting issues, create and facilitate parenting agreements, reduce parental conflict, address children's needs and / or repair parent - child relationships. The parents identify a period of time for this type of intervention. For example, it may be 6, 12 or 24 months.

The outcomes of this services whether by court appointment are:
  • specific parenting issues are resolved
  • the current court action is resolved
  • resolution on parenting issues,
  • parental conflict is reduced, and
  • there is a decrease in the number of court applications
Every situation is unique; however, the outcomes of this legal and contractual appointment are predicable and intentional.
